Time

It is now time for me to bid farewell to xanga. It's been a good run we've had together, but alas...all good things must come to an end at some point.

Please visit me at my newly designed blog: emiliano7.blogspot.com

Blessings and peace in Jesus Christ,
Emily

And the words pour forth

I am in a writing mood tonight. My sister, Michelle, and I were talking not long ago about what a "blob day" January 1, 2008 has turned into for us. Early risen, well-fed, and tv-ed out for one day adequately describes us. In the midst of having NOTHING to do, we managed to accomplish some things:
   1. I wrote all of my thank you notes :)
   2. I completed my internship applications.
   3. Began a book I've been hoping to read (called the Kite Runner--recently made into a movie)
   4. Watched "The Glen Miller Story" with Jimmy Stewart & June Allyson
   5. Began and finished making my budget for next semester
   6. Spent adequate time gawking at new pictures of my nephew (www.bruckart.blogspot.com)

Despite the blogness, there was some productivity :) and quite a lot of rest. Tomorrow has a huge To Do List to keep me busy.

I have begun to inventory all the crazy things I've at one point in time been interested in. I have begun pursuing a few of them--we'll see what (if anything) comes of them. :) I applied to culinary school because I want to learn how to cook well--how to determine, by smelling and seeing, that spices taste good together. I might take a night class or 2 Fall 08 :)

**For years, I have been a great advocate of Xanga because of it's overall clean appearance and lack of silly advertisements. Recently, I have become very sad at Xanga for selling out to putting ads on people's web-pages unless they upgrade. What a great marketing force, but sad for those (like me) who like free blogging :) I am considering switching to City Lights again (www.emiliano7.blogspot.com).

There are other random tidbits in my mind, but nothing of consequence. I shall impress my readers with a very thought-provoking post next time.

Blessings to you and to your family as you set foot in a new year.

Cher Refuge de mon âme fatiguée...

Here, Master, in this quiet place, where anyone may kneel,
I also come to ask for grace, believing You can heal.

If pain of body, stress of mind destroys my inward peace,
In prayer for others may I find the secret of release.

If self upon it sickness feeds and turns my life to gall,
Let me not brood upon my needs, but simply tell You all.

You never said "You ask too much" to any troubled soul.
I long to feel Your healing touch--will You not make me whole?

But if the thing I most desire is not Your way for me,
May faith, when tested in the fire, prove its integrity.

Of all my prayers, may this be chief till faith is fully grown,
Lord, disbelieve my unbelief and claim me as Your own.

-Fred Pratt Green, 1974

Is this how all of life shall be? I realize more now than ever that we are not made to walk through life on our own...WE CAN'T...it's impossible! Praise God for His gracious strength and protecting fortress. "A bulwark never failing..."

Finals is not as stressful for me as for others, this semester. I took a fairly lighter load to make time for other things--next semester will be another case ;) I've had time (probably too much) to spend with people and with myself. I hope I can account well for it.

There have been family members and friends coming in and out of town the last several weeks. It's so wonderful, yet so draining at times. All the emotions you left with those people are packed in their suitcases when they come--these are things that must always be dealt with and can't be ignored. Praise God that He keeps us accountable. My mother is always reminding me of the importance of reconciliation. As children of the Most High, we have been given the ministry of reconciliation. What an exhausting and honoring responsibility. May we maintain it well.

Random tidbits of the college world:
--It is possible to take 4 minute naps.
--It's easy to get addicted to energy drinks (until they don't have an effect anymore)
--Money burns holes and falls out of pockets.
--Chocolate always seems to run out!
--Dorm rooms make you appreciate the thought of your own house one day. (Oh to have a real kitchen!)
--Advent calendars with the chocolate in them are great daily incentives.

Alright, blessings to you all!

One final thing, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!!!! You are precious and a treasure to our entire family. Know how much I love you :) May you be blessed today--we're celebrating YOU and God in you!

Peace.

The most wonderful time of the year.

PCM (practical christian ministry) is a required once-a-week ministry that every Moody student is assigned. For my PCM, I teach the girl's side of a junior high youth group. There are 10-15 girls every week and me and several other girls from Moody spend our Tuesday nights with them. Last night was our Christmas party! They had a white elephant gift exchange and got all sorts of cool stuff! (who has a miniradio!?! that's just the coolest thing ever) ;) We decorated cookies and made toasts with apple cider. We tried to watch a movie but decided we like games better so we had a competition to see who knew the most about the significance behind candy-canes. After a quick snow-ball fight, we took the girls home :( always the sad part of the night.

Artaesia and her mini-radio ;)

Azeria :)

Angela read us a Christmas story.

Bunny ears!

This is all of us :)

Sweet girls :) Merry Christmas!
